Congrats to Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky (an investment banker and political offspring) getting married this past weekend on Saturday July 31st, 2010 at Astor Courts in Rhinebeck, NY. The Friday night before wasn’t to hectic either. Crowds gathered outside the Beekman Arms, another hotel fully booked by the wedding party. Guests, including the bride’s parents, were seen heading from a rehearsal dinner to a cocktail party at the local tavern.
Mezvinsky, 32, is Jewish, while Clinton, 30, was raised Methodist, like her mother Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Their Saturday ceremony, which was co-officiated by Rabbi James Ponet, a Jewish chaplain at Yale, and the Rev. William Shillady, a Methodist minister from New York City, was a nod to both their faiths.
It featured many Jewish traditions: the couple married under a chuppah or canopy; the groom wore a yarmulke or skull cap and tallis or prayer shawl; friends and family recited the Seven Blessings typically read at traditional Jewish weddings.
Former president Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton allowed a statement about their “great pride and overwhelming emotion,” and their staff offered a few grace notes about the interfaith ceremony, which was conducted by Rabbi James Ponet and the Rev. William Shillady. (Mezvinsky was raised in the Jewish faith, while Clinton is a Methodist.) Along with their vows, there was a reading of the Seven Continue reading →
Chelsea Clinton’s wedding to investment banker Marc Mezvinsky is the hottest event of the summer on July 31st somewhere in New York. Of course to help out her parents Chelsea has said, She must personally know every invitee. There will be only 400 names on the guest list, a good size for a wedding by ordinary standards, but barely big enough to account for all the people Bill Clinton slept with…..hehe. “Donors are expecting to be invited,” says a major Clinton fund-raiser. Then there are the campaign, State Department, and Clinton Foundation staff, plus foreign dignitaries and both Clinton and Obama White House officials. “You really see who their closest friends are in this list,” says an insider. “It’s not a celebrity-driven wedding.
The secrecy has seemed more reminiscent of a covert Iraqi undercover sting than a wedding. Ruomor on the street early was that it would be held on Martha’s Vineyard, but more recently sources have confirmed that the nuptials will be held on July 31 in a still-secret location within a three-hour drive of New York City. Reasoning says that the Hampton’s are not a plausible location because the Long Island Expressway is too long of a road. A more reasonable place for the big event would be somewhere upstate in Westchester or Dutchess County. “The wedding planner will contact each guest directly a week in advance and let them know where it is,” says the fund-raiser, who speculated that the Hamptons are out because the L.I.E. can be a very long road. The smart money, then, is somewhere upstate, possibly in Westchester or Dutchess County—most likely on property owned by a Clinton supporter. ”
I’ve heard some arguments for and against the use of a professional makeup artist lately that I thought I would come up with a nice pro and con list for each of these:
Professional wedding makeup artist: Pros
Possible to get it free with makeup purchase of a certain amount
You only use the makeup once, so need to buy special makeup you may never use again
Typically allow some sample trial applications to play with your makeup a little to find that perfect look
TEMPTU AIRbrush Makeup System ($225) is a lightweight system that lets you spray on concealer, blush, bronzer, or highlighter. It gives you a flawless, fresh, and dewy look. You can even use it all over your body. Really fast to do….Sephora lets you do a trial of this stuff..
If you buy a wedding package sometimes it includes the professional makeup as part of it
If you never wear makeup this will add that extra surprise to the groom and obviously you shouldn’t attempt your first makeup application at your wedding
You can use a makeover as a gift to your bridesmaids as part of your package
Professional wedding makeup artist: Cons
Price can range from $60-$100
If you’re not famaliar with the makeup artist they could do your makeup wrong and still have to pay
Do it yourself wedding makeup: Pros
Like Chelsea Clinton, you could keep it real simple and opt to not wear any makeup. Especially if you have a great skincare regimen and your skin looks great anyway like hers.
Couldn’t she have just updated her facebook status to “Engaged” and got the media circus going crazy just for fun?
Chelsea Clinton and longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky are engaged, the two announced on Nov. 27, 2009. In a mass email to friends and family, the couple said they are looking to get married until next summer. A Clinton spokesman said he believed the couple got engaged on Thanksgiving in New York, according to multiple reports. Clinton, 29, and Mezvinsky became friends in Washington and attended Stanford University together
Here’s a copy of the e-mail:
“We’re sorry for the mass e-mail but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn’t get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc.”
I am pleased that Chelsea is respecting the Clinton’s wishes of “Don’t get married before you’re 30” edict. She’s 29 now, but with a February birthday she’ll hit the magic number in plenty of time for the summer wedding. Clinton spokesman Matt McKenna said he believed the engagement happened “before Thanksgiving.” Others close to Clinton also indicated the engagement happened earlier and was only announced Friday.
Mezvinsky is a son of former Pennsylvania Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and former Iowa Rep. Ed Mezvinsky, longtime friends of the Clintons. It will be an interfaith marriage; Mezvinsky is Jewish, while Clinton grew up attending Methodist Church with her mother. Bill Clinton is Southern Baptist. Former White House Press Secretary Mike McCurry describes Chelsea as “poised, professional, and personable daughter of a marriage that Continue reading →
