Reese Witherspoon’s wedding dress

3/31/2010 – Update…Reese Witherspoon wore a PINK wedding dress, can’t wait to discover photos of this one.  I don’t think the designer has even ever made a pink one in her past.

After all of these weddings in movies Reese finally broke down and did the real deal this past weekend.  Jim Toth, 40 & Reese Witherspoon, 35, who became engaged in December, tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony at Witherspoon’s ranch estate in Ojai, Calif.   Wish I had a private estate for times like this 🙂

A pre-wedding cocktail hour took place before the 20-minute ceremony, which started a bit late, as most celebrity weddings do. Witherspoon walked down the aisle to “Here Comes the Bride.” Monique Lhuillier designed Reese Witherspoon’s wedding dress as seen below.

Those in attendance included Witherspoon’s children (with her first husband Ryan Phillippe), Ava, 11 and Deacon, 7, as well as 120 guests — including Renee Zellweger, Isla Fisher, Matthew McConaughey and other stars — looked on as Witherspoon swapped vows with CAA agent Toth, 40, in a 20-minute ceremony in front of her rustic country home. A few photographers were blinded by her 4 carat engagment ring during the ceremony (just kidding).  Her Jimmy Choo wedding shoes I’m sure wowed the crowd as you can see below:

A bluegrass band played during the service. Decor details of the country-themed soiree: Lanterns and chandeliers hanging from trees, mismatched antique chairs and distressed benches set throughout the property, a wood plank dance floor, antique leather sofas, jute rugs, wago wheels and Turkish textile pillows.

After the meal, guests boogied on the dance floor to DJ-spun tunes. When it was time to call it a night, drunken wedding goers departed clutching gift bags with pecan currant scones from a local baker.  I doubt the scones were as good as the ones from our local church….of course they only cost about 50 cents. You can’t beat 50 cent scones that are fresh.

Here’s a possible inspiration for Reese Witherspoon’s wedding dress from Monique Lhuillier? Is it close to the real one?

About Monique Lhullier –

While searching for a gown for her wedding in 1995, Monique was surprised by the lack of fashion-infused bridal options. Having had an affinity for evening gowns and bridal while at FIDM, Monique launched her first bridal collection in 1996. The collection received great acclaim from both editors and buyers alike. Tom joined the company as CEO, to turn Monique’s vision to establish a couture design house into reality.

Monique Lhuillier has become a celebrity favorite for both wedding and red carpet gowns. Her list of clientele has included Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Kristen Stewart, Drew Barrymore, Hilary Swank, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

At present, the Monique Lhuillier collections encompass ready-to-wear, evening gowns, bridal, bridesmaids, linens, tableware, fine paper and home fragrances.

Using Facebook/Social Media to organize your next wedding

Thought it was time to write on this again.  You see, a couple in Great Britain, Mark Hillary & Angelica Mari got married on December 3, 2010 and decided to forgo thee usual wedding etiquette like invitations, RSVP cards, save the date magnets, etc…. and only use social media. Not only did it save time, it saved loads of money on their wedding costs. Who wouldn’t want more money for the honeymoon instead of the wedding administration costs?

This is what the Facebook invite looked like below:

Example of a real facebook wedding invitation

Mark had this to say, “Facebook was useful because almost all my family and friends are on there. It’s true, there are some Facebook refuseniks and I had to update them by text message, and some partners of friends are not always on my friend list, but on the whole I managed to update everyone using a Facebook event.”

Of course, what is the downside….. what if the marriage falls apart…. will everyone be notified the same way? Roy Cellan-Jones even covered this story and more on his blog at BBC. Here are some of the negative sides to social media on the back side.

Here’s a quick devil’s advocate view of the bad side of social media:

Should a new celebration be for a divorce, or a more ‘discrete’, private celebration for an affair, you and the others in your web will have a different perspective on how you and your life are presented to the world, who has access to it, what they can do with it. You might wish only snail mail existed.

I know one or two people who deeply regret their Facebook history, because their lives and circumstances have changed and they wish that they could redefine their privacy, their friends, what the world knows about them. They can’t. They’ve tried. It’s to late.

What are some more pros and cons of using social media for your wedding?

3 Tips for that perfect lipstick on your wedding day

Since you were a teenage girl you’ve been pulling lip glosses out of your purse and swiping them on without even thinking. Your love affair with gloss was natural; it just felt so right.

And then things started to change. You wanted more. Like heroine to an addict you needed more. Lip Gloss just would not do anymore. You even started fantasizing about bringing home that ruby red lipstick you spotted in the cosmetics section of Cover Girl at Wal-Mart. You fell to your cravings and started buying lipstick, BUT your mom never really showed you the way. Now your wedding day is approaching and you want that perfect look that will knock your husband to be on his knees all over again.

If this is something you understand, then here are 3 tips to help shock your new husband into submission:

1st Falsehood: Lipstick will accentuate “flaws”

Some women shy away from lipstick because they assume it will accentuate perceived lip flaws such as wrinkles and dryness. And while lipgloss is the worst culprit when it comes to falling between the cracks of your lips, a bit of preparation is all one needs to ensure that lipstick goes on smoothly and doesn’t head south.

Start by caring for lips nightly with a light exfoliating treatment and application of moisturizer. For exfoliation: you can make a sugar scrub at home by combining a teaspoon of sugar and a few drops of water. Follow up exfoliation with an application of hydrating lip treatment. In the morning, slick on a coat of moisturizer before you begin your makeup routine. Allow it to sink in while you apply your other makeup first and then blot lips before applying lip primer, lip liner and lipstick.

2nd Falsehood: Lipstick is too bold for sunshine

Some women eschew lipstick for fear it is just too much for daytime wear. I suppose if your days are destined to be dull and void of color, this could be true. Otherwise, it’s how makeup is combined that really makes it “too much.”

3rd Falsehood: The color is short lived

Assuming lips are prepped in advance, begin by applying a lip base to enhance lipstick wear and banish color bleeding.

Lip liner is a must. If you don’t have the matching liner, opt for a neutral shade.

Experts always seem to recommend applying lip liner first, but novices know that leads to chalky, overdrawn lip lines. I recommend applying one coat of lipstick after the base, and then blotting lips. Next, apply lip liner and then reapply lipstick.

If the change from sparkly lips to matte is too much for you, add some shine by dotting a touch of eye shadow in gold or silver to the center of your bottom lip to add shimmer.

Do you want plumper lips like Angelina Jolie? Here’s a tip!

“Using lip liner in a shade slightly darker than your lipstick, overdraw the line (so the line is right outside your lips),” says Revlon consultant , Jody Fisher.

“Apply the lipstick, and then in the center of your lips, blend in a drop of foundation and top it off with a gloss.” Don’t worry about lip lacquer, just stick with the basics.

The most creative marriage proposal of 2011

A friend of mine on facebook just posted this and I am impressed with Michael’s ability to lay out a creative proposal by using his superb video editing skills & making the ideas in his mind come together.  Here’s a quick outline of what you will see in the video, the most creative marriage proposal of 2011.

15 – 1:40 – Where Michael plays with the poster radio that seems to respond to his every wish.

58 seconds – he turns the radio right before Bush’s chorus of ” I want to f*#* you like an animal comes on….”

Here are the words he wrote for this:

Hey Baby just wanted to take a few minutes – to say a few things I’ve been wanting to say – Ever since I’ve been on my own – I’ve been drifting through life – aimlessly & without direction – clinging onto any scrap of philosophy – that made any sense to me – I left alot of people & things I love behind – (Michael points to the stick figure of him running away) – for something new. A change of pace – What I got was much more – You found me and gave me a future to look forward to – & a reason to believe that TRUE LOVE is real – I love you more than you know – more than I’ve ever loved anyone – EVER (he shakes it in the air) – Your Everything I want – & everything I never knew I needed.  – And although I can only afford this – (picture of a very small diamond engagement ring) – you deserve this – (picture of large diamond ring, made of aluminum foil – VERY SHINY) – But if you accept it and me…. – I promise to spend the rest of my life – making you feel like the most beautiful (pic of rose)-  woman…. mother… – wife? – Meet me out back XOXOXOXOXOXOXO –

6:42 Michael gets up and they embrace in a beautiful moment….

7 minutes – Where Michael picks up his bride to be and her pink slippers fly into the air!! Love this part!!!

I Love Scrubs – did you see the Wedding episode?

I recently was browsing some episodes of Scrubs and ran into the wedding episode.  I love the part where JD remembers making out with a “short” girl or… maybe was on her knees.  Turk reminds him she was a midget…. It was great stuff.  Anyone know who designed the wedding dress that his wife wore for that episode, it was beautiful.

Turk gets married - Scrubs wedding episode

Of course Scrubs always has the characters wearing different nursing uniforms.  Of course the janitor has the best uniform…. even at this wedding he wears his standard janitor attire.

Has JD ever dreamed of wearing prison style burnt orange scrubs, like the ones correctional inmates have to wear.  I think it would b a good color for him.  The only episode he did in prison he just kicked and beat some people in a normal blue collar shirt…. not as much fun as it could have been.

I’m really surmised Turk didn’t wear a white cotton lab coat or something, just to be a pain to his boss on this episode.  It’s so hard for me to believe the show is gone and no new episodes will ever air again. On May 14, 2010, it was announced the show was officially canceled. The season nine finale, titled “Our Thanks”, aired March 17, 2010.  I remember that show… I teared up….. but not as much as this wedding episode.

Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie intimate wedding – pictures, photos

Hilary Duff’s weekend wedding to Mike Comrie couldn’t have been more romantic, says her sister Haylie Duff (luck maid of honor too).  “What a special weekend filled with love and beautiful memories,” she Twittered.  The 22-year-old Hilary (in Vera Wang) and the Canadian hockey player, 29, exchanged vows in front of 100 guests & was walked down the aisle by her mother Susan Saturday August 14th, 2010 in an intimate ceremony in Santa Barbara, Calif.  She also sported a 14-carat, $1-million dollar diamond engagement ring.

Says a witness, “It was one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever seen. Absolutely stunning. They thought of every last detail and it was an incredible sight. Mike held his arm around Hilary for most of the romantic, candlelit ceremony, and they both looked extremely happy.”

The couple, who began dating in 2007 at a resort in Idaho, got engaged this past February in Hawaii.  The couple exchanged vows at the sprawling Villa La Quinta estate just outside of Santa Barbara and then they spent their first night as a married couple at the famed San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito.
