5 Tips for glowing skin at your wedding

tips for soft skin wedding dayYou’ve been planning this wedding since you were a little girl…… then for 12 months you painstakingly planned out the details of your color palette, shoes, tried on countless wedding dresses, a handful of makeup trials, and now you are just waiting in anticipation for the date to arrive. A few days before the wedding your skin starts to break out and dry out……. SERIOUSLY??? Here are a few tips to help guide you towards radiant skin on your wedding day.

  1. Showering or Bathing – It is even better if you can do so twice a day, at morning upon waking up make sure to drink a lot of water. It will boost your immune system! and in the evening before going to bed. Soap-free facial or body wash and water offer one easy way to cleanse your skin. Alternatively, choose a specially formulated facial cleanser from your favorite brand range. Follow the instructions it provides. Always use a soft sponge or face washer to avoid harming your delicate facial skin. If your skin is sensitive try only taking a shower every other day or every few days. This lets your natural oils nourish your skin. Showering too much with sensitive skin can cause irritation.
  2. Exfoliate weekly –  In general, a weekly exfoliation will remove dead skin cells and buff the skin back into good condition. Removal of all the dirt, oil build-up and dead cells will leave your skin feeling baby soft. If you have sensitive skin, exfoliate twice a month.
  3. Daily Moisturizer – Especially AFTER you shower or bathe. Your skin not only needs more moisture, but moisture right after you wash. Applying moisture to damp skin helps seal that dampness into the skin. Keep a bottle near the bathtub, shower stall, and at every sink and use generously every time you wash. Products with plant stem cells can not only soften but also turn back time with your skin, especially on your face.
  4. Clean your makeup brushes – How often do you clean your makeup brushes? (Your probably thinking…. I don’t actually). Dirt, grime and oils left in the brushes can cause evil zits and breakouts, causing your base skin to get worse. Lucky for you, they are simple to clean yourself using a bar of soap.
  5. Eat clean – Turns out your personal trainer knew what he was talking about — you really are what you eat, and your skin may be a perfect reflection of your inner health. A healthy diet with ample beauty super foods can enhance skin texture, hydration, firmness and smoothness. I suggest a diet of foods rich in:
    1. Lean protein (salmon, tofu, soy, sardines)
    2. Omega-3 fatty acids (almonds, salmon, sardines, walnuts, flax seed)
    3. Antioxidants for rapid skin repair like vitamins A, C and E (carrots, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, berries)
    4. Minerals like magnesium and zinc, which facilitate hyaluronic acid production to provide unsurpassed skin hydration (soy, kale, carrots, pumpkin seeds, whole grains)

Do you have any other tips on what you suggest that makes your skin healthier as part of your skin routine?

Wedding Catering in San Francisco is not an option!

A good friend of mine, Staci, recently celebrated her 15th wedding anniversary out in San Francisco at the Forest Hill Club House. She was trying to keep her costs low and debated on hiring a wedding planner.  She actually does a number of custom cakes for weddings all the time so she decided to forego the cost of a wedding planner and let her good logistics friend, Angelina, handle some of the details.

Angelina and I talked on the phone a few times and decided there was a few things that we wanted to make sure went right – a good DJ, a solid caterer, and an amazing photographer. Her original wedding had the worst photographer of all time, no music or dancing (which she loves) and the food was made by her mom. Based on the stories that Staci has told me in the past I knew what she was really looking for.

When it comes to food, Staci has always planned her vacations around restaurants and food anywhere she has traveled. She is a bit of a foodie and loves new things so I decided that we needed of the reputable Bay Area wedding caterers, and TasteCatering.com fit the bill just perfectly.

A review of JamesAllen.com

james-allen-reviews

I’ve decided to start reviewing some of these diamond retailers from time to time to help guide you when it comes to finding the special ring for your engagement or wedding day.  Today I am starting with JamesAllen.com.

When shopping for an engagement or wedding ring one of the things to remember is that this ring will be with you for a lifetime. Shopping online for a ring can take some of the mystique out of the experience, but you are more likely to find exactly what you want than if you look locally. Nothing quite beats trying on that ring and falling in love with it in person, this is well known by jewelers, and if you are willing to forego the fantasy of walking into an overpriced shop like Tiffany’s then shopping online may be just the thing to do if you want to find that perfect ring.

James Allen has done a pretty good job with their website. They have attempted rather successfully to make the experience as easy as possible. In comparison with DeBeers the website is much easier to navigate. I will admit I got lost, even drooling a bit Continue reading

In 2013, variety is the new catch of the day.  As you know, many wedding dresses don’t feature the shoe unless the bride wants them to be seen.  In the past many brides have worn simple flats or even white sandals to ensure comfort.  This year, is the year of the bold bride that likes to add a dash of bold style to her somewhat traditional ceremony.  Today I will list the top 10 wedding shoe trends for 2013:

When I started this humble blog years ago who would have thought I would have nearly half a million people drop by to visit me and read my thoughts.  Now that I have established a large following averaging 12-15K visitors monthly I would love to offer retailers & vendors a chance to advertise with me.

The main banner ad 125 x 230 on our right navigation will soon be available at $100 monthly or $950 a year if interested.  I will be adding no more than six 125 x 125 graphic ads for much less at $25 a month or $250 yearly. Getting engaged and domestic violence today

I just read a post about a 29 yr old man in Florida that tried to make his fiancee swallow her diamond engagement ring because she no longer wanted to live with him. Not only did he do this, he tried to do it while she had a 1 yr old in her arms at the time.

29-year-old man was arrested in Orlando on suspicion of trying to force his fiancee to swallow her diamond engagement ring because she no longer wanted to live with him.
Using an engagement ring as a weapon?

Let’s get to the heart of this.  This “man”, according to this article, physically assaulted his fiance and tried to use an engagement ring as the weapon to choke her.  He then has the audacity to say, “women always claim assault, but never accept responsibility for provoking someone,” according to deputies.  You CAN NOT provoke someone to assault you and break the law.  You CAN lose your temper and take out your anger inappropriately in a way that is considered domestic violence.

Speaking of domestic violence in the home in front of children, I recently came across a comment from an organization titled “Children of Domestic Violence” that speaks on the impact of children just witnessing domestic violence. One surprising statistic they brought up was that 63% of all boys, age 11-20, who commit murder kill the man who was abusing their mother.  These kind of statistics scare me and we must do something.

We must stop men like this from perpetuating the cycle of violence and educate the children so they learn NOT to repeat what they see.
